Himachal Government implements Beti Bachao Beti Padhao to arrest declining girl child sex ratio
Sex Ratio is a major concern in Indian with few states recording as low as 700s females for every 1000 males. This should certainly catch the government’s attention both at the center as well as the state governments. The Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Abhiyan was launched by the central government to arrest the declining sex ration in India. Now, we see that individual states are coming forward to promote the campaign.
The Himachal Pradesh Government has come forward with this campaign and launched it in at least two districts of Kinnaur and Una, which are also the two districts with alarming sex ratio. The government of Himachal Pradesh is determined to alleviate the fate of girl child in the state and thus build a sustainable and balanced society for overall development of the state.
It is an important question indeed as to how the government of Himachal Pradesh is planning to improve the sex ratio in the state. Recent news suggest that the government would be holding influential workshops in order to implement relevant laws effectively to mobilize people so that they understand the overall role or females and thus the girl child.
One of the core reasons for declining sex ratio in India is pre-natal diagnosis and pre-natal contraception. Governments, both at the center as well as state levels have been doing everything possible in order to stop this practice. The Himachal Pradesh government would take strict measures to stop the misuse of pre-natal diagnostic techniques.
There are around 250 such pre-natal diagnostic centers which are registered with the state medical department. These centers would certainly come into government scanner and would have to adhere strictly with the law.
Last but not the least, the representatives of local bodies like gram panchayats have been sensitized so that they become instrumental in implementation of the noble campaign.
